Are you looking for wide open spaces and nature ?

Médoc is here for you !

Walking, cycling or horse riding, come and discover the amazing variety that this rich territory can offer you. Nature reserves, wetlands, marshes, dunes, lakes, forests… These are natural resources that make Médoc a paradise for nature lovers.

And besides, it is not by accident that the rating of Médoc as a regional natural park is under way …

Preserved areas for discovery

Nature has shaped the various landscapes of Médoc. The peninsula is referred to as the « land in midwater ». Villages, small towns and seaside resorts punctuate the territory, all of which are historical milestones. In this wide space, you will find deep forests, vineyards dating back to the Middle-Ages, polders reclaimed from the Estuary, lakes and ponds, all of which are resting places for migratory birds that bring dreams from elsewhere with them. Not forgetting an endless beach of white sand where everyone can find one’s place in the sun.

With naturalist guides, you will discover the numerous natural reserves which extend from the cape to the banks of the Gironde Estuary and culminate in the national natural reserve of dunes and marshes of Hourtin.

Favour the « Petite Reine » (Bicycle)

Forget your car during your holiday and ride your bike to enjoy over 200 km of cycling tracks in the middle of nature !

Going to the beach, shopping or going out at night to watch a firework display is not difficult at all on a bike ! « Mountain » bike lovers (fat bike, mountain bike) will enjoy specific tracks to explore the magnificent maritime pine forest. Riding on a road bike will be ideal in the early morning. And for sportsmen, the « Vélodyssée » trail, with its different accommodation sites signalled with the label « Accueil vélo » (bikes welcome), is the best choice !

Walking or horse riding in Médoc

Medoc is a fascinating land of contrasts ! Take your time to discover it on foot or riding a horse.

Unspoiled land between ocean and estuary, endless beaches, lakes, wetlands, vast expanses of woodland and vineyards make it an authentic field of freedom for the horse and its rider.

Would you rather hike ? The Eastern side of the territory offers a surprising trail between duck « tonnes » (hunting huts) and « carrelets » (fishing huts), dikes and polders, where the parcels of cropland or « mattes » are below the sea level ! In the West, you will walk on the long hiking trail GR 8 along the oceanic coast which displays over 80 km of fine sand beaches.
