« Châteaux Route »

The « Châteaux Route » which crosses Médoc is certainly one of the most beautiful wine trails in the world.

Margaux, Pauillac, St Estèphe, St Julien, Moulis, Listrac, Médoc, Haut Médoc, all these prestigious appellations are on this famous road D2 between Grands crus classés and castles with an unusual architecture.

It is a real treat for both your palate and eye. From medieval to neoclassical, including English brick and exoticism, all the styles blend…

Endless beaches

Forget everything ! No more landmarks around here. The sky is blue as far as one can see and it finally merges with the blue ocean.

The sun caresses your skin and you feel the tingling of the ocean spray. With the unrivalled mildness of the sand, fragrance of pine trees and of iodized winds, water lapping and children shouting, the beach stretches to better enchant you.

Highlights

Everybody has heard of the « Médoc Marathon » which is famous throughout the world, or of the unfurling « Lacanau Pro » which is the main surf competition in France.

Nonetheless, these events cannot overshadow others like the « Show bike » in Montalivet, the « Carrelets night » at Richard Lighthouse,
« Music Summer Festival in Médoc » !

With family or friends, trained sportsmen or heritage lovers, your dreams will surely come true during the festive highlights that enliven Médoc the whole year long.

The Estuary and its islands

The largest Estuary in Europe is a world apart.

Its islands, which are made of sand and alluvium brought by the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, come and go and transform themselves according to the currents’ will.

You can already discern the beauty of their natural and agricultural lands from the boat. Then they appear in full splendour, unique and fascinating, during tours of another age.

Heritage in majesty

When you were born at the feet of Vertheuil Fortress, you cannot remain untouched by the testimonials of the past and their mysteries.

We will share with you this heritage attractiveness.

Close to HERITAGE

Médoc is a land of contrasts, and as such, a fascinating territory.

Its Estuary watched over by the Corduan, Grave, Richard and Patiras lighthouses was a gateway for the invaders coming from the seas. It waters a poor soil that has become a rich land thanks to vineyards and châteaux.

The taste for sea bathing gave a new destiny to its wild shores that used to be the home of
« naufrageurs » (pirates who used to sink ships). Then Soulac made the « Silver Coast » style fashionable.

Médoc is such a fascinating land that UNESCO found there some material worth being listed as part of the World Heritage.

Close to SPORT

Whether you are thrill seekers, fans of big sport performances or simply looking for a relaxing break with your family, Médoc is here for you. In the air, at sea or on land, from the easiest to the most extreme sport, all choices are available.

While the boldest will be trying parachute jumping in Soulac or microlight aircraft flights in Carcans, the youngest will be able to learn sailing or surfing. Families will have the opportunity to discover Médoc by canoeing, cycling, horse riding or walking.
